· 14 National Register of Historic Places in Tulsa
· Historic Preservation Zoning allows residents to invest in their area with confidence- potential to strengthen our current neighborhood plan and “protect” Crosbie Heights from outside developers building outside of our small area plan-ie. Large condos
· The overlay zoning must be requested by the people in the neighborhood, NOT the neighborhood association
· Draft a letter and obtain 25-30 signatures to get started and present to Kara Joy/City Council
· The letter only begins the process-formal notices and public meetings will be held to obtain community input
· Historic Overlay consists of a series of design guidelines
· Free advice and consultations for folks in historic overlay districts, ie: wood window repair
· Residential and commercial historic overlays are different
· All existing structures are grandfathered in
· Apply for a permit to engage in projects-only pertains to visible portions of the home, ie. Front of house, sides of house and back of house (unless blocked by privacy fence or something)
· Permits not needed for interior projects
· Project permits are valid for two years (two years to complete the project) and extensions can be requested
· The Historic Preservation Commission has regular meetings that are open to the public
