June 18, 2020 Meeting Minutes

6pm-6:30pm Neighbor Check-Ins

Jasmine, Larry, Miriam, Fletcher and Femi attended the meeting.

6:30pm-6:45pm Juneteenth Celebration/Downtown Events

Celebrate diversity signs available to folks in the neighborhood

· -Miriam and Myrna donated the funds to purchase 100 signs

· -Residents may request a sign at no cost or for a donation to the Association (at least 100 dollars has been donated so far)

Juneteenth Celebration event to honor the emancipation of slavery was held in the Greenwood District on 06/19/2020

· This event was hosted by a collective of community-based organizations

· We are approaching the 100 year anniversary of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre

The president visited Tulsa on 06/20/2020

· Streets were closed from Archer to 7th and from Boulder to Houston

· We discussed safety precautions for the weekend as the rally was hosted blocks away from our neighborhood

6:45pm-7pm Dumpster Program

Dumpsters are scheduled for July 11th-July 13th

General guidelines include:

· Dumpsters are for use at residential sites and CANNOT be used for commercial purposes (for example, to clean out rental properties),

· Certain items CANNOT be placed in the dumpsters (such as limbs and other tree debris, grass clippings, Freon bearing appliances, car parts or tires, air conditioners, roofing materials, and whole buildings, sheds or garages)

· DO NOT OVERFILL DUMPSTER! Dumpsters should be no more than three-fourth (3/4) full. Since we have the dumpsters over a weekend, the city cannot empty them and bring them back.

7pm-7:15pm pH House Update

The Well is subleasing the community center. They identify as a church in community and use the dinner church model.

· They are currently providing services three times a week: Wednesday mornings pastries and coffee, Thursday evenings grocery giveaways, Sunday evenings dinner to go

· They will be hosting their stories from The Well on June 28th. It will be live on Facebook and there will be tables and chairs outside to listen at a safe distance while enjoying a meal and music.

Feedback is welcome regarding their presence in our neighborhood, including parking, advertisement, services etc.

· Positive feelings were expressed regarding the efforts to engage our neighborhood and residents. Many of the churches in Crosbie Heights to not appear to have many activities or opportunities for engagement.

Brief discussion about the Historic Preservation status. Jed Porter stated the mechanisms are still in place to move forward. Neighbors currently put the discussion on pause due to COVID-19.

7:15pm-7:45pm Brainstorm Neighborhood Engagement during COVID-19

Discussed opportunities to engage our neighbors safely during the pandemic.

· Host a socially distant picnic at Newblock Park

· Request street closure in front of pH house or on Olympia for a block party with donated food etc.

· Use pH house to play live music

· Send out calendar invites for meetings along with emails so folks remember!

7:45pm-8pm Closing + Upcoming Events

· Crosbie Heights Instagram is activated-content needed! Contact Jasmine if you have photos or would like to help manage the account!

· The website is bare bones but Jasmine is working on it!

· Elections are on June 30 (statewide primary and special elections), our precinct location is scheduled to be open, tomorrow is the last day for absentee ballots

· KJ is hosting a meeting on how residents and businesses can be good neighbors, Event will be held June 29th from 6pm to 8pm, Location TBD, Registration encouraged, sign up for her newsletter

· Mobile Justice Oklahoma is a free and helpful app that can upload information directly to the ACLU
